Today I have seen plenty of Facebook-Social media love by many. I have seen some fantastic pictures of my friends kids dressing up for school, in honour of Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday. Happy birthday! Roald Dahl, gone but never forgotten. Your imagination is inspiring to many, you are Regarded as “one of the greatest storytellers for children of the 20th century”and even named by The Times as one of the 50 greatest British writers since 1945.
Roald Dah gets celebrated each year at a number of events, they are held to celebrate the author’s life. I myself had to go and watch the new BFG that came out last month. I wasn’t keen on the newest film release, yet after loving his books growing up I love all the original films, that even the great directors themselves got inspired by. The BFG is dedicated to his daughter Olivia, who died in November 1962; from cerebral aneurysms. Her death left Roald and I quote “limp with despair”, and gave him a feeling of guilt that he could not do anything for her. ( The telegraph 2015)
Roald died in 1990 on November the 23rd, of a blood disease, myelodysplastic syndrome. He left behind a great legacy, his life’s work has been inspired into Lot’s of creations, i.e house hold objects, clothing, keep sake gifts, films, events and stamps. Once again happy birthday Roald, if only you where around to see everyone celebrating you. ❤
